17 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 27 NOVEMBER 2019 THE Malta Cultural Institute Founda- tion (MCIF) will be presenting its Grand Christmas Concert on Sunday 15 De- cember 2019 at 7pm, in the auditorium of G.F. Abela Junior College, Msida. The first part of the evening will be in the hands of Marie Therese Vas- sallo Voice Studio Choir and Soloists, who will be presenting the Cantata "Cantico Delle Creature di San Franc- esco D' Assisi". Music was composed in 1967 by Maestro Frank Vassallo (1924 – 2000) to the original words by St Francis of Assisi. The Soloists are Soprano Claire Caruana and Tenor Louis Hole. The Organist is Mro Michael Camill- eri. Choir and Soloists will be under the direction of Dame Mro Marie Therese Vassallo. The reason that this work was cho- sen is because St Francis of Assisi was the first person to present a re-enact- ment of the Birth of Christ. For this occasion there will be the special intervention of Mtarfa Drama Group, who will be presenting their own re-enactment of this Holy event. The second part of the evening will be in the hands of Mary Jane Bellia Ballet School, who will be presenting the Christmas Ballet, "Les Patineurs" to music by Giacomo Meyerbeer and Choreography by Mary Jane Bellia and Emiliana Bonello. This is a complete Ballet which in- volves many dancers, colourful cos- tumes and a spectacular presentation. The MCI Exhibition for December will be in the hands of the members of Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio and will include Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Handicrafts, Maltese Lace and much more. The co-ordination and presentation of the Concert will be in the hands of Dame Mro. Marie Therese Vassallo. Free Parking will be available for guests in the grounds of the Junior College during the concert. The Jun- ior College Theatre has Lift facilities from the Parking area and from inside the College, providing easy access even for guests with special needs. The concert is open to the general public. A contribution at the door is requested, to help cover some of the expenses of the MCI and the use of the Junior College Theatre. MCIF Grand Christmas Concert The Mary Jane Bellia Ballet School EDEN Leisure Group and its Green Committee have been hard at work organizing a number of initiatives for of the European Week for Waste Reduction. ey supported the cause with the theme, 'Change your Ways, Reduce your Waste.' Throughout the whole of last week, Eden Leisure Group initiated a national campaign. e campaign included informative radio ads on 89.7 Bay and social media posts on- line. e nine day long campaign al- so consisted of a number of events, encouraging the reduction of waste. Throughout the last month, the Eden Leisure Group collected un- wanted clothing items from their employees. On Monday 18th of No- vember, ELG donated these clothes to Dar Merhba Bik in Balzan and Appogg in Gwardamangia in the aim that these clothes are reused rather than thrown away. Additionally on Saturday 23rd of November, 89.7 Bay's Daniel & Ylenia visited Ta' Qali to distribute 200 re-usable cloth bags to shop- pers in the area. ELG teamed up with Veco to raise awareness and encourage people to avoid taking disposable bags and instead use re- usable ones. All of this was a part of ELG and its Green Committee's mission to make Malta a greener and cleaner place. ELG step it up for European week for waste reduction
