THE 5th and last round of the
Enemed Hillclimb National
Championship was organised
on Sunday the 8th of Novem-
ber at Mtahleb, on the limits
of Rabat. The event was organ-

the Hillclimb Championship
and the Island Car Club has the
longest history in the local mo-
torsport scene.
Around 30 cars competed in
the various classes and groups
that make this championship
suitable for every driver and
every car. Charles Cutajar on
his Escort Mk1 won the class
for rear-wheel-drive cars. Di-
dier Bugeja on his Peugeot 106
won the class for front-wheel-
drive cars. Fabio Baldacchino
on his formula racing car fin-
ished as the overall winner fol-
lowed by Darren Camilleri in
second place and Mauro Por-
telli in third. Fabio Baldacchino
raced the hill in 61.31 seconds.
All local hillclimb fans no-
ticed the driving capabilities of
Nicky Gauci. This was the first
time that Gauci tried his luck
in Hillclimbing although he has
a lot of experience in karting,
both locally and abroad. Gauci
finished the day in 5th place.
