MATTHEW VELLA THE Prime Minister's chief- of-staff Keith Schembri and the Tumas magnate Yorgen Fenech were great friends. But that friendship ran deeper than most people ev- er knew. For at the height of Schembri's most profound life challenge – an eye tumour which required him to seek treatment overseas – it was Fenech that Schembri found by his side, both in terms of moral support as well as fi- nancial support. It was Fenech who footed part of the bill for Schembri at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in 2016, this newspaper has learnt; and it was Fenech who stayed by Schembri's side during part of this stay. MaltaToday has learnt that Fenech paid two bills for Schembri's health costs: one costing €10,000, the other €14,000, sources close to the Fenech family said. KURT SANSONE LAWYER Bernard Grech (pictured) and Nationalist MEP Roberta Metsola have a higher trust rating than party leader Adri- an Delia, according to a special edition of the MaltaToday survey. Grech, a lawyer whose first public foray was in the anti-divorce campaign nine years ago, has often been touted within PN circles as a possible successor to Delia. In a survey where people were asked whom they trusted most from a list of po- tential PN leadership contenders, which also included the incumbent Adrian Delia, Grech emerged top with 15.1%. He was fol- lowed by Metsola with 12.9%, with Delia coming in third with a trust score of 10.7%. The list of names was compiled on the basis of information that is often shared within PN circles where concerns have of- ten been raised on Delia's dismal trust rat- ing when compared to his political rival in the Labour Party. MaltaToday's regular trust barometers have consistently shown that Delia is ham- pered by a large co- hort of PN voters who do not trust him.
