maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 JANUARY 2020 20 COMMERCIAL FRANK Salt Real Estate Ltd has announced the recent ap- pointment of George Vassallo, Jonathan Sammut and Marie Grech, to the Frank Salt Real Estate Board of Directors. These appointees are not new to the company, having been part of the team for several years. George Vassallo first joined Frank Salt Real Estate in 1986 as a sales consultant, and was later appointed as manager for the Sliema branch in 2006. George has always been sales oriented and still finds sell- ing property very satisfying and motivating after all these years. He is also a great team player and spearheaded a great team of sales consultants at the Sliema branch to win the com- pany's Best Branch Award in 2007 and 2014. George believes in giving all to his clients and makes sure that his many years of expe- rience are translated into a successful transaction to both buyer and seller. His motto is "make your clients your friends and your friends your clients". Jonathan Sammut has been with the company since 1991, where he started off with run- ning a very small accounts department. As the company expanded over the years, the department evolved in order to keep in line with changes in technology and accounting standards. Jonathan helped develop tailor-made computer systems in order to handle all aspects of the Group's vari- ous departments and business interests including detailed reporting systems. He also as- sisted in merging the various companies within the Frank Salt Real Estate group. Jonathan's dedication to Frank Salt Real Estate has spanned over almost 30 years of service and through his role as director in charge of finance, he will be able to continue to help the company stay at the forefront of the real estate sec- tor on the island. Marie Grech comes from a business oriented family. She was instrumental in the open- ing of a dedicated Frank Salt Real Estate branch in Gozo 30 years ago. Being a highly moti- vated and determined person, Marie never shied away from hard work and besides her pas- sion and drive for selling prop- erty, she also manages an ex- cellent team of sales and letting consultants, which has grown from two to nine persons. The Gozo branch was also the win- ner of the Best Branch Award in 2018. After 30 dedicated and suc- cessful years in the property market, Marie feels she has a lot to offer the company. She is looking forward to share and pass on all the knowledge and experience she gained over the years, to other consultants. Frank Salt Real Estate appoints three new directors A new ray of hope for three-flippered Tama A 19-year-old loggerhead turtle by the name of Tama due to its miraculous comeback, has been released today at Golden bay. The turtle has been in rehabilitation since October 2015 following a head in- jury, a shell crack and a severed flipper due to a propeller hit. Tama spent several months at the Tur- tle Rehabilitation Unit, Forti San Lucjan in Marsaxlokk where it had to be force fed after refusing to eat. The turtle was cared for by Nature Trust FEE Malta and the Wildlife re- habilitation team that nursed it back to health under the medical observation of veterinary surgeon Anthony Grup- petta. The turtle which weighs around 47kgs has been fitted with a satellite tracker kindly sponsored by MAPFRE Malta so that its journey back into the wild could be tracked also for research purposes. Tama was released in the presence of 40 students who are presently partici- pating in the Young Reporters for the Environment – Litter Less campaign. Present for the occasion were also a group of students from an informal NGO - Higher Youths that have kind- ly sponsored the turtle's rehabilitation programme and have been following closely its progress. Prior to the release, students and vol- unteers carried out a clean-up of the beach were they also logged informa- tion on the prepared data sheets to in- vestigate the various waste streams that end up on our beaches. Nature Trust said that "while it is sad to say goodbye to Tama that has been with us for years yet we are so happy to set him free again as a now healthy turtle. We called him Tama (Hope), be- cause when we rescued him way back, he was in bad shape and close to death. Only our determination and dedication of the Volunteers and VET managed to get him back to full health and adapt with one missing flipper. This is a hap- py day for us all. He leaves me with a memory that I nearly lost one finger while force feeding him, but seeing him depart free and in full strength is a mo- tivation for us all to keep on our work. Thanks goes to MAPFRE for their full support to track him and follow his new adventures." A tracker costs close to €5000 so such support is truly great. Felipe Navarro, President and CEO from MAPFRE Middlesea, said "It re- ally was an amazing experience, and in some ways inspiring, to finally see Tama being released out into the ocean. To think that this turtle, which once upon a time was found severely injured, and is now able to venture out into the sea as a result of the sheer determina- tion and dedication shown by Nature Trust, is nothing short of inspiring. Now, we cannot wait to see where Tama will travel to next during his long-await- ed journey." George Vassallo, Jonathan Sammut and Marie Grech
