THE Environment and Resources
Authority has confirmed that In-
frastructure Malta was in breach of
permit conditions when it started
works prior to the appointment of
an arboricultural expert to supervise
the works, as required by a nature
permit issued in September 2019.
The permit obliged Infrastruc-
ture Malta to inform ERA on the
dates of works seven days prior
to their commence-
ment.

KONRAD Mizzi's €80,000 consultancy
contract with the Malta Tourism Authori-
ty was terminated yesterday evening by the
Tourism Minister.
Julia Farrugia Portelli instructed the au-
thority to immediately terminate and can-
cel the obscene contract, which was given
to Mizzi last December, just two weeks af-
ter he resigned from minister.
Farrugia Portelli confirmed that no pay-
ments linked to this contract were issued.
The decision to end the contract was
taken 24 hours after the existence of the
agreement was flagged by Times of Mal-
ta. The newspaper later published the full
contract.
The Tourism Minister sought legal advice
on the validity of the contract after she be-
came aware of its existence
on Monday afternoon.
The contract was signed by Konrad Mizzi (above) and MTA CEO Johann Buttigieg on 9 December
