Music 27 FEBRUARY Jazz showcase In an upcoming concert which concludes the Medinea session in Malta, 11 musicians coming from 8 different countries will be presenting new music devel- oped throughout an intercul- tural composition residency this February, under the direction and mentorship of Jazz celebrity Fabrizio Cassol. Belgian jazzman and composer Cassol, hailed as one of the top saxophone play- ers in the jazz world, is most- ly known for his work with the trio Aka Moon. Fabrizio Cassol will be in Malta this month to lead one of the four 2020 Medi- nea sessions. The session is part of a larger project, the Medinea network, aiming at bringing together the diverse sounds of the Mediter- ranean by means of experimen- tation with different tradition- al instruments, melodies and sounds. A concert will be held at Robert Samut Hall on the 27 Feb- ruary at 7:30. Schubert's lyrical Sonata in A major D. 664 opens this pro- gramme, followed by two dra- matic works in C minor: Mozart's Sonata in C minor and Beethov- en's Pathétique sonata.
