From the writers of multi award-winning hit musi- cal Jersey Boys, with music and lyrics by Tony Award nominat- ed Andrew Lippa, the legendary Addams Family will make their way to the Mediterranean Con- ference Centre on the 7 and 8 March 2020. For more in- formation please visit www.mcc. com.mt UNTIL 8 MARCH The Two Noble Kinsmen A true breakthrough, and a company with a particular edge, youth theatre company, Roaring Voices, is bringing Shakespeare back to the centre of the com- munity, where his work belongs. The young company work to- gether intensively, and perform with confidence and clarity. This season, they will bring you The Two Noble Kinsmen, in an energy-filled performance. Fol- lowing the success of Roaring Voices' first production, this is the company's second opportu- nity to allow new talent to give Shakespeare's work expression through their own contemporary experiences. Schubert's lyrical Sonata in A ma- jor D. 664 opens this programme, followed by two dramatic works in C minor: Mozart's Sonata in C minor and Beethoven's Pathé- tique sonata. The show presents lyri- cal and colourful expressions of the artist's personal narratives related to the concept of at- traction. The exhibition will be showcased at Palazzo de la Salle and will be curated by Roderick Camilleri. The event will take place at Art Galleries, Palazzo de La Salle, Valletta. Other 6 MARCH Shedding light on 1980s' archaeological discovery On Friday, 6 March, at 6:30pm, Heritage Malta is inviting the public to attend a lecture by Dr Maxine Anastasi who will be presenting the initial findings of this small archaeological exca- vation, by combining a reading of the sequence of the archaeo- logical remains identified, and the study of the pottery that was retrieved. The lecture will be held at St Paul's Catacombs au- dio visual hall. Admission is free of charge. Maxine Anastasi is a Lecturer in Roman Archaeology at the Department of Classics and Archaeology at the Universi- ty of Malta. She has participated in a number of the University of Malta's past excavation projects, including those at Tas-Silġ and Għar ix-Xiħ. Presently, she is supervising the University's cur- rent training excavations at the Żejtun Roman villa and Tas-Silġ. 8 MARCH Open day at Fort Manoel Once again, the magnificent Fort Manoel will open its doors during an open day on Sunday 8 March between 9:00am and 5pm, giving the public another opportunity to view the restora- tion works to date and enjoy the Fort in all its former glory. Two guided tours are planned for the open day at 11:30 (English) and 14:30 (Maltese). Entrance to the Fort and the tours are free of charge. Built in the early years of 1700's by the Grand Master An- tonio Manoel de Vilhena of the Knights of St. John and restored to its former glory by MIDI plc in early years of 2000, Fort Manoel has stood majestically overlook- ing Marsamxett Harbour as a fine example to Malta's baroque military architecture since the early 18th century. Festival 4-8 MARCH The Maltese Islands Festival The fourth edition of the highly successful Maltese Islands Festi- val of drama, dance, music and singing returns, and the public is welcome to attend. This interna- tionally-accredited performing arts festival is aimed at children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18, with some cat- egories open to adults. While offering young artists a platform for networking with their peers, the MIF takes the form of a competition, giving participants the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of an audience and panel of in- ternational judges, all experts in their field.
