DC Aviation Group and Comlux sign cooperation agreement ROBERT Abela has set up a committee to review the rules governing the build- ing industry and its practices in the wake of Monday's fatal tragedy. e Prime Minister, however, shied away from ordering a moratorium on demolition and excavation work pending the review. Abela said he will be asking the relevant authorities to carry out more inspections and ensure that construction work is carried out according to correct practice. e committee will be chaired by re- tired judge Lawrence Quintano and in- cludes geo-technical engineer Adrian Mifsud, architect Mario Cassar and law- yer Mark Simiana. e committee is expected to take stock of the situation and propose changes to the regulatory set up. Abela did not give a timeline for the committee to conclude its work but in- sisted he would be asking them to do so urgently. e Prime Minister skirted a question as to whether Infrastructure Minis- ter Ian Borg, who last year piloted rule changes following a series of building collapses, should resign for promising peace of mind. Abela was addressing a press confer- ence at Castille. On Monday, Miriam Pace, 54, was killed after her house in Hamrun col- lapsed. Abela said it was clear that the cause of the collapse was linked to adjacent con- struction work in a site where excavation was taking place. He said that the magisterial inquiry and the police investigation into the incident were progressing well and he expected anybody responsible for what happened to be brought to justice. Four out on police bail, two remain under arrest Four people arrested by police on Mon- day and Tuesday over the Hamrun build- ing collapse have been released on police bail. Two others remain under arrest, the police have said. e arrests involved people linked to the construction site adjacent to the property that collapsed. e six men arrested were the project's site technical officer, the project architect, two employees and two contractors hired by the developer in charge of the project. e police did not say who was released on bail. In the statement, the police also said that investigations were ongoing. Adrian Delia reacts Opposition leader Adrian Delia said that Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg must shoulder political responsibility for the building collapse which killed Miri- am Pace on Monday. Delia said that it would be useless for the government to blame everyone but itself, insisting that had it implemented the recommendations by various stake- holders and the opposition, the incident wouldn't have happened. "It is clear that the reform by Ian Borg was a failure, last Monday a wife and a mother was killed," he said. Reacting to the statement given by the Prime Minister, the PN leader said that while Abela called the situation an ur- gent manner, no timelines were given to the committee tasked with carrying out the review.
