Atlas joined several other Maltese businesses and organi- sations in helping Puttinu Cares set up this room, in which ad- olescents and young adults can take a break from the hospital environment and play games, watch TV, listen to music, study or even sit for exams.The room consists of a chill-out area, a PlayStation console and screen set-up, computers, musical in- struments as well as other facili- ties need for leisure and studies. Apart from the €11,000 finan- cial donation for this room, Atlas had, in the past, donated kitchenware for the Rainbow Ward. David Cassar, Marketing Man- ager at Atlas Insurance, said: "We are very proud to have offered a helping hand to the Rainbow Ward team as well as Puttinu Cares and we are hon- oured to have been part of this project. Atlas hopes that thanks to our support, young people receiving treatment at the Rain- bow Ward will enjoy their own comfortable space to relax and keep up with their everyday in- terests and studies." Rennie Zerafa, CEO of Puttinu Cares thanked Atlas Insurance for its contribution: "We re- member exactly that day when we had a meeting at the Rain- bow Ward, and Atlas Insurance came up with this initiative to sponsor a room. We are so grateful that with the enthusi- asm and perseverance of Atlas, this dream has come true. Altas Insurance is making a big dif- ference to the quality of life of many adolescent patients who go through cancer treatment." During the launch of the Ad- olescents' Room a month ago, Puttinu Cares had announced that following discussions with the hospital management, it was decided that the Rainbow Ward will care not only for children up to 16 years, but also teenag- ers and young adults up to the age of 21. The project includes a series of talks and company visits on priority industry sectors, including the Food & Beverage Manufactur- ing industry, targeted to stu- dents who aspire to learn and grow within their respective discipline. This project is purposely de- signed to complement the students' studies to prepare them to face particular dynam- ics of the industry. Moreover, through this experience the stu- dents have the opportunity to develop further their potential, instil work ethic values as well as receiving invaluable expo- sure to the work environment. Through this collaboration a group of students from Junior College visited Farsons Brewery for a talk and brewery visit early in February. Through such initiatives Farsons Group continues to strengthen the collaboration between the manufacturing in- dustry and education.
