14 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 18 MARCH 2020 COMMERCIAL Fort Manoel welcomes crowds to its recent open day SEVERAL people braved the rainy weather and passed through Ma- noel Island last Sunday to head to Fort Manoel's monthly open day to enjoy the beautifully restored Fort, which played such a pivotal role in Malta's history. All women were greeted by the scouts from the Naxxar Scout Group and presented with a yellow flower in appreciation of women's day. A way forward THE Institute of Financial Services Malta (IFS Malta), in collaboration with the INTERNATIONAL Compliance Asso- ciation (ICA), recently organised a spe- cialised seminar in relation to Financial Crime Compliance. The successful event which focused on the Betting and Gaming economic sec- tors in Malta and which saw the partic- ipation of the Malta Gaming Authority was organised at the Xara Lodge in Ra- bat on the 26th of February. The objective of this seminar was to bring together practitioners and ex- ecutives from across the Betting and Gaming sectors to interact with ex- perts and discuss issues related to these important sectors of the local econo- my whilst gaining further insights of a proper compliance culture required to embrace and implement the standard requirements to manage financial crime in these industries. IFS and ICA teamed together and in- vited the Malta Gaming Authority to share experiental and learning out- comes in relation to the importance of implementing ethical business compli- ance standards across the sectors. Mr. Tim Tyler from ICA updated the audience about the practical develop- ments as he thouroughly delved through a five point plan aimed to address fi- nancial crime in gambling. Mr. Joseph Attard representing MGA shared the Authority's functions and assistanace available to benefit the various business facets of the industry. IFS President Mr. Kenneth B. Micallef reiterated that this event and other sim- ilar seminars organised by IFS Malta toghether with reputable financial ser- vices training providers, are anchoring the Institute as a leading contributor in the provision of leading financial ser- vices education intended to provide the optimal skills required to implement good governance standards. IFS and ICA teamed together and invited the Malta Gaming Authority to share learning outcomes in relation to the importance of implementing ethical business compliance standards across the sectors
