maltatoday | SUNDAY • 5 APRIL 2020 10 COMMERCIAL LOCAL credit card acquirer Global Payments, recently announced that all its PoS (Point of Sale) terminals have been upgraded to accept con- tactless purchases of up to €50. This new feature helps to min- imize the spread of COVID-19 since Cardholders do not have to touch the keypad to input their PIN, but they will simply tap their card against the PoS Terminal. This new limit is ideal for those outlets currently delivering their goods and services and who are making use of the Global Payments mobile payment devices. Global Payments' merchants whose shops are presently closed, are to contact Global Payments on 2226 5656 once they re-open, so that their PoS Terminals may be updated with this new feature. Global Payments raises contactless limit to €50 DURING a meeting called by Liquigas Malta Ltd to clarify the situation regarding the price of gas, the Minister for Energy and the Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS), understood the position of Liquigas, the main supplier of gas in Malta. Liquigas thanked the Minister and REWS for appreciating its long-term operational circum- stances, and following official clarifications, it was mutually agreed, that the price for a 12kg Liquigas gas cylinder will be that of €15. Agreement reached on gas cylinders HSBC Malta has launched a series of measures as part of its efforts to keep both its customers and employees safe and protected during the COVID-19 outbreak. During these challenging times, the bank is committed to providing con- tinued support to safeguard both the health as well as the financial wellbeing of its customers and employees. Teller service on Saturdays Branches will be open as per normal opening hours (8.30am till 12.30pm) on Saturdays. As from Saturday, 4 April and until further notice, the five branches operating from Mosta, Pao- la, Sliema, Valletta and Gozo will not be offering teller service on Saturdays. All other services presently offered will continue. Minimum Cash Withdrawal from branches HSBC Malta is temporarily intro- ducing a Minimum Cash Withdrawal Policy at all its branches. With imme- diate effect, clients will be able to with- draw cash from branch tellers from a minimum of €500 upwards. Clients needing to withdraw less than €500 are directed to use the ATMs. Those who do not own a Debit Card may make a one-time withdrawal from the teller. At this time, clients will be requested to apply for a Debit Card, which will be necessary to make future withdrawals through ATMs. Deposits With immediate effect, deposits will not be accepted at teller points. All de- posits, whether cash or cheques, are to be made through the bank's self-ser- vice network of ATMs and Deposit Machines. This service will only be availa- ble on Fridays, until further notice. Non-HSBC customer cheque encash- ment Non-HSBC customers who wish to encash 'Only' Cheques issued by the Central Bank of Malta and who are not in a position to endorse and appoint a trusted third party to deposit cheque and withdraw via ATM on their be- half, may choose to utilise the bank's branches on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8.30am and 10.30am. Extended online support hours HSBC Malta reminds the public that requests for information can be made via Facebook Messenger. To further support its clients, the bank has al- so extended its online support hours from 08:00am till 16:00pm to 08:00am till 10:00pm.
