A day after the International Monetary
Fund's economic forecast predicted a
2.8% contraction in Malta's economy
in 2020 due to the impact of COV-
ID-19, doubts have been cast over the
"overly optimistic" assessment.
e IMF said that Malta's economy
would shrink by 2.8%, representing
a negative shift of over 7 percentage
points from 2019, with the govern-
ment highlighting that this would
mean the country would suffer the
least impact in the entire EU.
