14 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 17 JUNE 2020 COMMERCIAL THE Planning Authority has decided to extend the validity period of compliance certificates which expired or are about to expire in the coming days. This measure has been taken after a number of valid compliance certificates could not be uti- lised in view of the restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic situation, and therefore ex- pired or are about to expire. Therefore compliance certificates having a valid- ity period expiring between 15 March 2020 and 15 June 2020 (and which still need to be utilised) can have their validity period extended, following a specific request which needs to be made by the perit on behalf of the applicant. The request for extension must be submitted to the Planning Authority before the 30th June 2020 by sending an email to customercare@pa.org.mt and quoting the specific CMP number. The compliance certificate will be re-issued with a validity period of another three months. Late re- quests shall not be considered. When issued, a compliance certificate has a va- lidity period of three months. The compliance certificate is a confirmation that a development is according to the planning permission and it is required when applying for water and electricity services. In 2019, the PA received a record number of 10,442 requests for the issue of compliance certif- icates, which represents an increase of circa 15% over the previous year.
