Theuma discussed pardon with Fenech's business partner in preparation for arrest MATTHEW VELLA MELVIN Theuma, the middle- man in the assassination of Daph- ne Caruana Galizia turned State's evidence, discussed a prospective presidential pardon in return for his taped conversations, weeks before he was arrested. In conversations heard by sourc- es close to the police investigation, Theuma and Johann Cremona – a business partner of Yorgen Fenech, the man accused of mas- terminding the assassination – are heard mapping out Theuma's game-plan in the weeks before his arrest on a money laundering charge in November 2019. The statement follows a sto- ry by Reuters and the Times of Malta, in which Dubai-based company 17 Black was revealed to have made a previously un- disclosed profit of €4.6 million when Enemalta bought a wind farm in Montenegro. The wind farm was acquired by Enemal- ta in a lucrative deal for Yorgen Fenech during the tenure of for- mer minister Konrad Mizzi. Fenech is currently charged with masterminding the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was investigating the deal at the time of her death.
