NAO report finds collusion between
Vitals and government on hospitals
• Vitals was done deal: NAO report

A multi-million euro deal to
transfer three State hospitals to
an obscure private company was
"predetermined", the National
Audit Office said.
In a damning report published
on Tuesday, the NAO pointed an
accusing finger at an agreement
signed between the government
and some of the investors in-
volved in Vitals Global Health-
care before even the request for
proposal was published.
The NAO said government was
reluctant to provide it with a copy
of the pre-tender agreement, re-
inforcing concerns over the "in-
tegrity of the eventual conces-
sion".
The audit office was referred
from one ministry to another when
it asked for the pre-tender agree-
ment, with none being able to trace
the original or a
copy.

THE Nationalist Party parliamenta-
ry group met yesterday evening, with
Adrian Delia facing another test of
his leadership.
The meeting was scheduled to start
at 7pm but only got underway just
before 7:45pm as MPs waited for De-
lia to turn up. The meeting was still
underway by the time we went to
print, but MaltaToday learned that
the MPs remained resolute on forc-
ing a vote of no confidence in Delia.
An hour before the meeting, the
party leader was on NET TV lam-
basting the Vitals hospitals deal
and insisting his fight
against corruption
will not waiver.
