maltatoday | SUNDAY • 9 AUGUST 2020 8 ELDERLY CARE SAINT Vincent De Paul Long Term Care Facility has launched an application for an elderly care course, in collab- oration with the University of Malta. This course will enable learners to gain the necessary knowledge and skills in order to support healthcare profes- sionals and be able to work ef- fectively within the long-term care facilities of the elderly. The course, which is ac- credited by the University of Malta, will last for 14 weeks: seven weeks of theoretical sessions and seven of practi- cal sessions. The theoretical sessions will be held through PowerPoint presentations in English and will be translated into Mal- tese by the lecturer. Gozitan students will be able to follow the theoretical sessions from the Ministry for Gozo in Ra- bat via Skype. The practical sessions for Maltese students will be held at Saint Vincent De Paul while Gozitan students will visit the Gozo General Hospi- tal for the practical sessions. Students who complete this course successfully will be given a certifcate in Elderly Care: Theory and Practice is- sued by the University of Mal- ta, equivalent to MQF Level 5. Applicants wishing to apply for the course must have suc- cessfully completed compul- sory education, be 16 years of age or older, be in possession of a recent and clean police conduct and be competent in both Maltese and English. Applications will be accept- ed until August 20, 2020 be- tween 08:00 and 13:00. The applications can be collected from the Saint Vincent De Paul Training Centre or from the Ministry for Gozo in Ra- bat, Gozo. The application can also be downloaded on- line from www.activeageing. gov.mt. The applications have to be submitted to the Saint Vin- cent De Paul Training Centre, which is found at Florence Nightingale Street, Luqa or to the Ministry for Gozo.
