maltatoday | SUNDAY • 16 AUGUST 2020 9 ADVERTORIAL You'll be hard-pressed to find a tree more quintessentially a part of the Maltese countryside than the carob. Yet the carob (M. ħarruba) is native to the East Med and the Middle East, so its presence in Malta must be result of direct importation. The species was probably introduced in antiquity, possibly in Roman times. It was imported because its fruit – now fat, ripe and ready for picking – made excellent fodder for beasts of burden, not to mention the thick syrupy ħulepp so gentle on a sore throat. Other benefits of this evergreen tree are the rich compost that forms underneath its dark canopy, a godsend for our impoverished soils; ideal resting, roosting, hiding, sheltering and nesting spots for birds and other animals; and flowers that attract bees in droves. The tree's ability to thrive in dry conditions is a big plus as well. In short, a tree that demands little but gives much in return. Typical of nature, really. It's a good start to have a healthier life and to protect animals. Eat more vegetarian/vegan dishes. Instead of meat, use other protein sources such as legumes like beans, chickpeas, lentils or soy. Go local and support Maltese farmers and if not available try the next best option of sourcing from regional and the EU for alternatives. If you don't know where to buy your fresh local veggies from, check out the Malta Farm Map on our website. https://foemalta.org/ maltafarmmap/ Chanel's hydrating mask re- plenishes skin Women's lives are full and intense. Meetings, dinners, sports, travel, work… To with- stand this fast-paced daily life, women have to take relaxing breaks on a regular basis and ensure me-time moments to give the skin all the hydration and attention that it deserves. Hydrating and soothing, the new Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask is this comforting moment that makes your day more enjoyable. As a cocoon- ing moment in the evening, a burst of radiance before meet- ing someone or a quick appli- cation on targeted areas of the face. This new nourishing treat- ment finds its rightful place in your beauty routine. An indulgent wellness moment to replenish your skin, treat yourself and feel beautiful. In the morning to wake up your skin, after a workout to calm it down, before an important date or meeting, or in the evening before going to bed. A mask, a break, a glow Hydration is the key to radi- ant skin. Every day, your epi- dermis needs to be hydrated to maintain its plump and lu- minous appearance. Yet, dai- ly life and its many activities can weaken the skin's balance. After an intense workout, a long-haul flight or a night- long party, your skin becomes dehydrated. It feels tight and uncomfort- able. To be replenished and regain its natural glow, the epidermis requires a dose of hydrating and nourishing in- gredients. Enriched with hydrating and nourishing active ingredients derived from Camellia japon- ica and an antioxidant blue ginger extract, Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask infuses the skin surface with essential lipids. Merging with the ep- idermis, the creamy texture of this balm mask becomes one with the skin to steep it in moisture and nutrients. Immediately revitalized and soothed, skin feels smooth and velvety again. One mask, three applications Like the women who con- tinuously inspire Chanel Re- search, Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask likes to multitask. Whether applied for a cocoon- ing break, a flash treatment or for targeted soothing, it guarantees a tailor-made re- sult with each application. • Burst of radiance: apply a generous layer of mask on the face and leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. • Instant cocooning: apply a thin layer of mask on the face. Leave on for 10 minutes and massage to blend in excess product. Do not rinse. • Targeted soothing ac- tion: take a small amount of product and massage gently onto dry areas of the face. This adjusted use fits perfectly into a "multi-masking" ritual, which involves the use of several masks on dif- ferent areas of the face, depending on the skin's needs. • The results mentioned previously are obtained.
