Gafa said Maciejowski was found with a shot to the head, while Pandolfino had two shots to the chest, one to the neck and another in the head. The arrested man is understood to be Albanian national Daniel Muka, who is known to the police from a hold-up on a Tigne Point jewellery shop three years ago. Gafa would not confirm the identity of the arrested man but described him as the "prime suspect" in the murder. There were two other people inside the Floriana apartment, who had no link to the mur- der, Gafa said. However, one of the men was arrested and is being questioned for hiding the prime suspect. Police investigations are ongoing and Gafa called for prudence at this delicate stage. He said that at the time of the arrest, the man was holding a pistol in his hand. Forensic tests are underway to determine whether this was the same weapon used to kill the couple. Gafa said flash bangs were used by armed police officers to disorientate the suspected aggressor before entering the apartment. The arrest of the man follows the dis- covery on Friday of the getaway vehicle. Gafa said the car was found in the RMF multi-storey car park next to St Luke's Hospital and had a different set of num- ber plates on it. He confirmed that elec- tronic radio jamming equipment was found inside the vehicle. Police also found clothes and items believed to have been stolen from the residence inside the vehi- cle. The number plates used on the night of the murder were also found inside. Gafa said that replicas of two firearms - an AK47 assault rifle and a Thompson rifle - were also found in the vehicle. Pandolfino graduated as a doctor but moved to London where he worked as an investment banker for many years. Ma- ciejowski, a British citizen of Polish de- cent, was an art dealer. Both used to wear heavy gold chains around their neck and were known to be wealthy. Arrested man had stopped signing bail book after escape vehicle was found by police LAURA CALLEJA A tourist arriving from Spain's Girona airport has tested pos- itive for COVID-19, Public Health Superintendent Char- maine Gauci has confirmed. Speaking to MaltaToday, Gau- ci also confirmed that two pas- sengers arriving from Barcelona on Monday also tested positive. All three cases were caught due to random swab testing being conducted at Malta Internation- al Airport on passengers arriving from countries in Malta's amber list. Gauci said that passengers ar- riving from countries on the am- ber list must submit a certificate proving a negative COVID-19 result in the last 72 hours. However, if a certificate is not produced, passengers may be subjected to swabbing, Gauci ex- plained. Swab testing at the air- port now takes 50 minutes, with Gauci saying this was not only for the comfort of passengers but also to minimise the time people are kept together. She explained that when a passenger tests positive, con- tact tracing is conducted. A risk assessment is done, and those sitting close to the infected pas- senger may be required to quar- antine. Gauci said that accommoda- tion will be organised for all those that need to be quaran- tined. On Tuesday the health min- istry added the Czech Republic and Tunisia to its newly intro- duced amber list. The two coun- tries will be placed on the list from 28 August. Other countries on the amber list are Bulgaria, Romania and Spain. The amber list only ap- plies to Spanish passengers ar- riving from Barcelona, Girona and Madrid. The ministry said the list will be updated regularly. On Tuesday, 38 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, bringing the number of active cases to 666. 52 more people have recovered from the virus.
