The 17th talk in the APS talk series, will be presented by Corinne Fenech, founder of TinkTings.com. Fenech is a con- sultant and trainer whose area of expertise is Innovation, with a focus on Sustainable Business, Customer Experience and Em- ployee Development. The talk will discuss the con- cept of the 'Circular Econo- my' in simple, straightforward terms, explaining what it is and why it is so important. It will also investigate how the cir- cular economy cannot take off unless governments, business- es and consumers act together, emphasising how each of these players has the power to kick start action in the others. The talk will also cover what each one of us can do in order to fuel the circular economy. The membership in the UNGC highlights Lidl's long term com- mitment to sustainability and its corporate social responsibility. "The decision to adhere to the principles dictated by the Unit- ed Nations regarding Global Compact further reinforces our orientation towards a sus- tainable business model from an ecological, economic and social point of view. These are fundamental characteristics for a company looking to the future in the same way as Lidl does and that wants to support the creation of shared values. With this new aim in mind, our obligation towards sustainable development continues and goes perfectly with the vari- ous initiatives undertaken over the past few years," stated the Management. Thanks to this agreement, Lidl Malta, emphasises its commitment in the area of sus- tainability, following up on the important initiatives undertak- en over the years, such as the renovation of stores to be fully in line with the highest stand- ards of environmental sustain- ability and energy efficiency. Lidl Malta also has a Social Responsibility page on the Company's website which in- cludes a protocol on the due diligence system for human rights and environmental pro- tection, together with a recent- ly signed 'Women's Empow- erment Principles' practice. Abela brings with him a wealth of experience, primar- ily in the hospitality industry. For the past years, Abela has led the Finance and Control Function of a leading group of hotels and other catering establishments in Malta. Abe- la was also entrusted with di- rectorships within the various companies and the position of Company Secretary.
