The accused, who is not being named by a court order aimed at avoiding the publication of the identity of the minors, is accused of threatening, harassing and intimidat- ing his two male victims, in addition to asking them for sexual favours. He is also accused of attacking them and one of the boys' mothers. Inspector Roxanne Tabone, who had investigated the case, told mag- istrate Natasha Galea Sciberras how one of the victims had come forward on 12 September. The man had allegedly threatened the boys that he would seek revenge and that they would "never see day- light again" if they told anyone about the abuse. In court yesterday, the accused pleaded not guilty, with his lawyer Mark Mifsud Cutajar requesting bail, arguing that the accused could be or- dered to remain at home as he didn't have a job. However, the court refused the re- quest and remanded the man in cus- tody. All four men pleaded not guilty. Three men were arrested and it emerged that the night before anoth- er theft on a foreigner took place by the same people. During interroga- tion a fourth person was identified, as Deko Susanto. That night a report of an elderly person being accosted by 3 people before the arrests was received by the police and it emerged that it was the same people. The majority of the muggings took place in Jubilee Grove, Floriana. Bail was not requested as the men had no fixed address, their lawyers stressing that this was not to be con- strued as an admission of any sort. Lawyers Mark Mifsud Cutajar, Eze- kiel Psaila, Dunstan Camilleri and Josette Sultana appeared for the ac- cused.
