George's Care Ltd is restor- ing the grandeur of The Imperial in Rudolph Street, Sliema, while converting it into an elegant, modern and reassuring care home for the elderly. While the architectural upgrading is fur- ther enhancing this prestigious building, The Imperial residence will be focusing on the principle of active ageing. It will be staffed by dedicated nurses and healthcare profes- sionals with extensive experi- ence in caring for senior citizens, whether their stay is simply for respite or on a longer-term basis. The complex will consist of beds in spacious single or double rooms, as well a high dependency unit. Residents will have access to 6,000 square metres of facili- ties, including a chapel, activity rooms, a landscaped courtyard, and a three storey underground car park. All rooms are stylishly furnished and benefiting from en- suite bathrooms, underfloor heat- ing and air conditioning, satellite TV and Wifi, as well as a nurse call system. The facility will further- more include rooms and common areas especially dedicated to inde- pendent residents wishing to ben- efit from hotel services only. The Imperial will focus on en- couraging residents to remain physically and socially active. Residents and those from the sur- rounding community can enjoy a varied range of facilities including a modern wellness centre com- prising a modern therapeutic and hydraulic pool, a physical reha- bilitation centre, and specialised gym equipment. Other in-house facilities include a library, a hair and beauty salon, a cafeteria and a gift shop. Residents will enjoy compan- ionship, meet new friends and join in singing, music, exercise, arts and crafts sessions, and even play bridge, darts, snooker and petanque. Each element of the home has been carefully considered to cre- ate interior and exterior environ- ments in which residents can live with dignity, comfort and pride.
