The Gozo Innovation Hub is a multi-purpose business centre in Xewkija, Gozo, and comprises two buildings: the new business centre and the restored administration block linked together by a restored walkway. The business centre re- places an old factory but it preserves the original north- west wall. It spreads on two floors with interlinking units and an underlying basement. The design of the new block is simple but function- al, in order not to compete with the features of the ex- isting building. "The result shows a harmo- nious combination between past, preserved and reborn, and present, efficient and well integrated," jurors said. They awarded the Gozo Innovation Hub an Honour- able Mention in Honorable Mention in Architectural Design / Restoration & Ren- ovation. Perit Charles Buhagiar is lead architect on the pro- ject, with the design team of Francesca Cunico and Al- fred Grech. Malta Industri- al Parks commissioned the project. The 2020 edition of the MasterPrize was again high- ly anticipated, and the stand- ard of the projects turned out to be truly exceptional. "The quality and content of projects entered into this fifth edition of the Architec- ture MasterPrize was spec- tacular," AMP President, Hossein Farmani said. "This award continues to showcase the best of Ar- chitecture from all around the globe. It is an honour to present and reward this fantastic collection of inno- vative, creative and inspiring architectural projects." Gozo Innovation Hub gets honourable mention in international architecture competition
