maltatoday | SUNDAY • 15 NOVEMBER 2020 5 THEATRE Charlotte Grech Teatru Manoel like never seen before THIS week Teatru Manoel opened its doors to audiences in a way it does not often do so. In the production TEN, a piece inspired by Bocaccio's Decamer- on, audiences will be led by var- ious actors to 10 different spaces in the theatre that many people have not seen before. Bocaccio's Decameron brings together 100 short stories told by ten protagonists living in isolation away from the plague that hit Florence. From these funny, erotic, sa- tirical and sad stories, twenty have been chosen to be per- formed by ten actors, dancers and singers in a promenade performance that takes you in- to the very bowels of the Ma- noel Theatre. Audiences can go on one of two journeys to experience ten of these stories at any one time. Fresh, funny, ironic and ro- mantic, Boccaccio's Decam- eron can still speak to us 600 years later. A performance will unfold in each space. Such rooms include the cantina under the stage, the old MPO rehearsal room, the refurbished Board Room and old offices just to name a few. Audiences will be allowed in, in small groups of 4, 5 or 6 people from their trusted bubble and must wear a mask throughout their visit in the theatre. More information on the performance below: The cast features Chris Ding- li, Michaela Fenech, Malcolm Galea, Charlotte Grech, Pame- la Kerr, Paul Portelli, Tina Rizzo, Gianni Selvaggi, Pierre Stafrace and Martina Zammit. The production is directed by Chris Gatt and Andre Agius with music by Sean Borg and movement by Pamela Kerr. TEN will be presented in Eng- lish & Maltese, with some sec- tions performed in complete darkness. This performance is support- ed by Arts Council Malta, Me- Direct and 35 South.
