Grech registered a trust rating of 30.1% in the December MaltaTo- day survey, a decrease of 1.4 points for the Nationalist Party leader over last month's performance. Likewise, the Prime Minister lost 1.6 points to achieve a trust rating of 46.8%. The result leaves the gap between the leaders almost intact at 16.7 points. In November, the gap stood at 16.9 points. As it happened, also present at the same event was Melvin Theuma, the middleman whom alleged mastermind Yorgen Fenech tasked to deal with the triggermen who killed Caruana Galizia by car bomb. Lawyer Arthur Azzopar- di, who dropped his brief for Vince Muscat shortly before the arrest of Yorgen Fenech in November 2019, confirmed that he had advised his wife and daughter to face Joseph Muscat over the accused's demand for a pardon, at the official Yuletide greetings at Castille. The revelation of the chance encounter was made by Jo- seph Muscat himself on Fri- day when appearing before the Caruana Galizia public inquiry: according to Muscat, right after Theuma greeted him at the ceremony, Vince Muscat's family stepped for- ward. The family says they are un- aware of the 'coincidental' meeting, raising questions as to how that event drew both the assassination's middle- man and the family of one of the accused at the same time.
