maltatoday | SUNDAY • 6 DECEMBER 2020 14 COMMERCIAL 5x5Challenge: strong participation by stakeholders in favour of cleaner, healthier environment LAUNCHED last month as an initiative aimed at encouraging the local population to engage in sustainable lifestyle, a number of stakeholders in the communi- ty have joined the 5x5Challenge to advocate a healthier, cleaner environment for the wider ben- efit of our society. An initiative of the Debono Group, the #5x5Challenge is sharing easy-to-apply tips on various aspects of everyday life. These tips vary from simple ideas to reduce energy con- sumption at home, planning daily chores to reduce car use and practical ways of recy- cling unwanted stuff at home through cool, decorative ideas. Among the organisations that have joined this campaign, sharing from their end prac- tical tips and experiences are Rota.mt, Project Aegle Foun- dation, Find the Door, Eco Market Malta and Casa Rocca Piccola. Nicoletta Moss, who is spearheading the project from the Group's end said: "What- ever we do throughout our day, what we eat, how we trav- el, our shopping choices, all have an impact on our quality of life and that of those in our connected communities. I am truly encouraged by the initial response we have had in the first weeks and the number of organisations and individuals that have come on board for this exciting journey". Debono Group CEO Geoffrey Debono commented: "This in- itiative ties in perfectly with a key element of our compa- ny's vision, which is to ensure that we always deliver positive change to the sectors in which we operate. As a multi-sectoral business, we are strongly com- mitted to reducing our own en- vironmental footprint, and we do so by improving energy effi- ciency, using resources respon- sibly, and reducing waste. I am proud that the Group is driving forward this Challenge as part of our continued commitment to our trusted customers and wider society at large". As the next phase of the Chal- lenge, the public is now being invited to share practical tips and ideas towards a cleaner, healthier lifestyle. Some cool giveaways have been lined up for the most innovative ideas shared on the Facebook and In- stagram pages of the #5x5Chal- lenge. The initiative is being supported by the Group's com- panies, namely Toyota, Cool, GoTo and WotoMoto, which provide different mobility solutions reflecting the push for sustainability which the #5x5Challenge is all about. This is one of the benefits reaped following the signing, last July, of a memorandum of understand- ing detailing a collaboration be- tween Heritage Malta and the St John's Co-Cathedral Foun- dation. The student passport scheme allows access to most Heritage Malta sites and muse- ums for all students in primary and secondary schools. Access is free of charge for every stu- dent and two accompanying adults. St John's Co-Cathedral, a gem of Baroque art and ar- chitecture, has now been add- ed to the wide array of histori- cal places that youngsters may enjoy and appreciate through their Heritage Malta passport. The memorandum of under- standing between Heritage Malta and the St John's Co- Cathedral Foundation covers a period of three years and sig- nifies an important alliance be- tween the two entities. Among other goals, it enables the pos- sibility of integrating visits to the Co-Cathedral within Her- itage Malta's passport schemes while also exploring ways of combining visits to the Co-Ca- thedral with visits to specific Heritage Malta museums.
