MOTORING

HAVING drinks before getting behind the
wheel has the potential to cause devastation
and lifetime remorse. There are ways to avoid
the repercussions to oneself – from bodily
harm to job loss from driving under the in-
fluence: don't do it. 'Be Cool', share a ride.
This is the key message of a joint Christ-
mas campaign being launched by ride shar-
ing company Cool and leading roadside as-
sistance company RMF just before the peak
of festivities.
Last year, Malta registered more than
15,000 road-related accidents with some
1,356 of these resulting in injury to the
driver, passenger or pedestrians, in some
case fatal. It's always a risk to underesti-
mate the effect of an extra drink or two on
your driving ability.
Ride-pooling with Cool puts your mind
at rest; for a very convenient price, you can
have that extra drink without worrying on
getting back home safely. Moreover, until
30 December, a second rider travels for just
€1, when booked by the same Cool passen-
ger.
For this campaign, Cool is teaming up
with RMF, which has been offering road
safety assistance for the past 34 years, a ser-
vice which has also been extended around
Europe when driving your personal vehicle.
RMF has for a number of years invested in
campaigns promoting health and safety on
the road, and regularly provides hints and
tips to drive safely out of the country. Its
service is offered through trained and expe-
rienced staff and mechanics guaranteeing
total care for your vehicle, be it a classic,
sports car, commercial or motorcycle.
