SOME of Malta's best-known bus-own-
ing families, for whom buses have been
in their blood for at least two generations,
have come together to start offering Vin-
tage Bus city tours.
Using a fleet of beautifully restored
Maltese buses, the tour route runs from
beside the Triton's Fountain outside the
city gate into Valletta and initially fol-
lows the road around the Valletta pen-
insula, with fantastic views across both
the harbours.
It then climbs back to Floriana and fol-
lows the traditional bus route through
Msida and Sliema to St Julian's and
round to the sandy beach at St George's
Bay, before heading back towards
Sliema and Valletta.
Buses are running hourly departing
Valletta daily from 9am to 6pm, with a
full round trip taking around and hour
and a half, traffic dependent. Depar-
ture times from the St. Julian's end are
around 40-45 minutes later, again de-
pending on the traffic.
Fares are set at €4.50 for adults and
€3.00 for children for the full round
trip, or €2.50 and €1.50 to go one way
between Valletta and St Julian's or
vice-versa.
Several stops have been set up in the
Sliema. St Julian's and St George's are-
