maltatoday | SUNDAY • 3 JANUARY 2021 10 COMMERCIAL GO Plc, Malta's leading telecommuni- cations provider, entered into a strate- gic partnership with Servif y, a device lifecycle management platform. Servify provides after-sales device protection, device exchange, and buy- back programs for multiple original equipment manufacturers (OEM), tel- ecom brands and their sales and service ecosystem. This partnership comes on the heels of GO Ventures, a start-up fund set up by GO plc, having partic- ipated in Servify's recently concluded Series C funding round. This international partnership has translated into incredible value for GO mobile customers. With the pow- er of the Servify platform, customers now have the option to trade-in their old device and receive a minimum €50 cash back credit guaranteed in return when upgrading to a new device and subscribing to GO's Freedom Plans – the only mobile service that allows customers to tailor their plan, accord- ing to their needs. More importantly, the whole process fully supports GO's drive towards more environmentally friendly operations. "We believe that whilst mobile de- vices have evolved drastically over the past decade, users' post-purchase ex- perience has barely changed," Nikh- il Patil, CEO of GO Plc explained. "This is what attracted us to Servify, a brand focused exclusively on en- riching mobile users' lives while pro- viding an ecologically responsible way of disposing of mobile devices when replaced by new ones." The process is simple. All the cus- tomer needs to do is visit the GO web- site www.go.com.mt/trade-in/ to find out the estimated value of their old device. Devices with a market value will be shipped abroad for resale, thus supporting a circular, green economy. Older and outdated devices with no market value will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way, in line with recommended practices. All col- lected devices are wiped and fully reset to ensure that any personal informa- tion is irreversibly deleted from the old devices and transferred securely to the new device. "We are delighted to join hands with a telecom brand for the first time in Europe. Go mobile customers can look forward to an innovative in-store app driven experience, powered by Servify, and will support 12 brands and near- ly 800 different models to begin with. Servify will manage the process end- to-end which includes local logistics, settlement and technology thus elevat- ing the customer experience further" said Sreevathsa Prabhakar, Founder, Servify. "This is another example where col- laboration with international partners has brought about additional value to the local market. We have been work- ing very closely with Servify over the past months, which has been very un- derstanding of our business needs and objectives. Once again, we are the first telecoms company to offer this service to the local community," continued Nikhil Patil. GO goes green with Servify THE Bank of Italy recently published a remarkable book about banknotes, specifically produced for visually impaired people, which was made avail- able to the national central banks in the EU. The Central Bank of Malta took up this 'roadshow' offer and was able to show the book to the Society of the Blind. The reaction was so positive – and the demand for it by the Socie- ty members so great – that the Bank has ordered a copy which will be kept at its Library for various outreach opportuni- ties. The Bank will notify the public when it arrives. The Banknote of the Senses: touch with your eyes, look with your hands allows people not only to recognise the security features of the banknotes but also to know more about the overall design characteristics of banknotes. The book, the first of its kind on the topic, combines printed and Braille text with raised illustrations. John Gafà, the Society's sec- retary, described the book as an arts and educational mas- terpiece. He said "that per- sons who have been blind for so many years experienced for the first time the '€' emblem and much more about our monetary system". The Socie- ty has 75 registered members but also gives support to many others who seek their help. There were 1,626 people with an impairment related to sight registered with the Commis- sion for the Rights of Persons with a Disability at the end of December 2019.
