BERNARD Grech faced an open revolt among the
Nationalist Party's local committees on the 2nd
District yesterday after demoting Stephen Spiteri
in a reshuffle of shadow portfolios.
The PN leader received backlash from Spi-
teri's constituents after the popular doctor was
removed from shadowing the health portfolio,
which was given to Claudio Grech.
Members of the PN's local committees on the
2nd District threatened to resign en masse if
Spiteri was not retained as health spokesman.
Grech has been meeting his MPs individual-
ly for the past couple of days as he undertakes
his first reshuffle of shadow portfolios since be-
coming leader last October.
