maltatoday | SUNDAY • 31 JANUARY 2021 12 COMMERCIAL Burger King revamps brand for first time in over 20 years SINCE 1954, Burger King has encouraged its guests to Have it Your Way® and confidently cele- brate self-expression. Today, the brand is making a leap forward by introducing a completely new visual design that will be pres- ent throughout all touchpoints of the guest experience. Inspired by real and delicious food, the more modern look marks the first complete rebrand in over 20 years and will more authenti- cally represent Burger King val- ues. The announcement signals a commitment to digital-first expression and recent improve- ments to taste and food quality, through the removal of colours, flavours, and preservatives from artificial sources from menu items, as well as an ambitious pledge to environmental sus- tainability. Today, more than ever, Burg- er King strives to ensure guests feel good about its food, and this is reflected throughout the visual design, restaurant design and across the entire digital experience. The brand will be rolling out a new brand logo, packaging, restaurant mer- chandise, menu boards, crew uniforms, restaurant signage and décor, social media and digital and marketing assets. The result is a new look that indicates confidence in the future, while remaining true heritage and what guests love about BK. Dialling up taste and quality through design, every design element was intention- ally reimagined to better re- flect the new Burger King food journey. The design principles capture the unique character- istics of the Burger King brand: mouth-watering, big and bold, playfully irreverent and proud- ly true. Logo. Confidently, what BK is all about - real, simple and delicious food. Since launching the current logo in 1999, the industry has transitioned to a more modern, digital-friendly design language. The new min- imalist logo seamlessly meets the brand evolution of the times and pays homage to the brand heritage with a refined design that's confident, simple and fun. Colour. Selected colours are unapologetically rich and bold, inspired by the iconic Burg- er King flame grilling process and fresh ingredients. The new photography is hyper textured and dials up the sensorial as- pect of the food. Font. Burger King new pro- prietary brand font is (appro- priately) called "Flame". The font is inspired by the shapes of BK food - rounded, bold, yummy - and brand's irrever- ent personality. Uniforms. New crew mem- ber uniforms reflect flame grill masters, mixing contemporary and comfortable style with dis- tinctive colors and graphics. Real crew members are fea- tured in new BK advertising. THE robots are taking over! For years this has been a popular theme for science fiction writ- ers, who liked to delve into the dangers and ethical issues of such a revolution. However, we are beginning to live in an age where some of these fantastical stories are starting to feel more like reality. Join Malta Café Sci- entifique in welcoming Dr Ing. Emmanuel Francalanza on the 3rd February 2021 at Spazju Kreattiv, 7:00pm, an expert in working with industries to adapt conventional manufacturing machines into cyber physical systems. In some form or another, more and more people are in- teracting with robots and ar- tificial intelligence every day. Whether this be a voice pow- ered assistance, like Siri or Al- exa, or perhaps personalised adverts on the internet. How- ever behind the scenes, a more subtle revolution is happening in the manufacturing industry with the growth of Collabora- tive Robots (Cobots). Learn all about how to inter- act with your robot colleagues. Will this affect our job experi- ence and what are the potential ethical and social implications of this new age? This event will be present- ed live to a small audience at Spazju Kreattiv, if you are in- terested in attending please book your tickets early to avoid disappointment but due to the limited number of seat please be prudent and consid- erate of others, https://www. kreattivita.org/en/event/mal- ta-cafe-scientifique-the-evo- lution-of-cobots/.
