making the Ta' Qali Artisan Village a safe and welcoming environment. Such services in- clude interactive screens, data services, a public announce- ment system, as well as CCTV and alarm notification central- ised system. Works have also started on the tender for new direction- al signage for the artisan vil- lage, which will follow the new brand guidelines that are also being finalised. The idea for the directional signage is to in- corporate elements produced by the artisans operating from the Ta' Qali Artisan Village, so that the village will have an even more local touch. Construction on a kiosk ad- jacent to the car park on the north side of the Ta' Qali Ar- tisan Village has been com- pleted and the provision of these services is expected to commence by the coming summer. This will be complemented with a child minding facility within the area. During the course of this year, work will also proceed on two other areas located adja- cent to the current footprint of the village, thereby expanding the overall area of the Ta' Qali Artisan Village. On one side, close to the administration building, an im- mersive visitor attraction will be built. This will be the first of its kind in Malta and is con- sequently likely to lure thou- sands of people to the artisan village, thereby generating additional footfall within the village for the benefit of all the artisans. This area will also provide for some additional plots for arti- sans, as well as for a multi-pur- pose venue which among oth- ers will be providing a large open space that can be used for large artisanal fairs, family shows, cultural events, and so on. This type of facility is cur- rently lacking in the village, and thus it is designed to at- tract an even wider audience to the village. Other novel facilities will be provided through a MakerLab, which will be housing start-up artisans and students, as well as the centre for dying crafts, thereby breathing a new lease of life into the artisan sector. wwTa' Qali Artisan Village promises to be one of the best artisanal villages in Europe, injecting new life in the sec- tor and serving as a hub for all that which is truly Maltese.
