maltatoday | SUNDAY • 28 FEBRUARY 2021 12 COMMERCIAL CareMalta team of nurses set up to administer vaccine in facilities A team of nurses from the Care- Malta Group has been set up to inoculate residents and staff against COVID-19 and to over- see the entire vaccination pro- cess within all facilities operated by the group. The team is made up of Ma- ria Xuereb, nursing manager, Matthew Vassallo, lead nurse at Casa San Paolo, Zvetlana Farrugia, facility manager at Casa San Paolo, Noel Borg, the group's senior nursing manag- er, Maria Cekic, lead nurse at Casa Arkati, Paul Sceberras, mental health services manag- er, and Asha Kirar, a nurse at the Żejtun Home. The team of professionals is working in close collaboration with the Active Ageing and Community Care and the So- cial Care Standards Authority, ensuring that all the necessary precautionary measures and guidelines are followed and that residents from all facilities who gave their consent to re- ceiving the vaccine are admin- istered the two doses. Team coordinator Noel Borg said: "This experience was no easy feat, but it has been a rewarding experience even though the process entailed hard work. I felt humbled to witness first hand the look of gratitude on our residents' faces. To them this moment means tangible hope and relief for a better future." The logistics and intricacies of the vaccination process, in particular the high level of care and attention, preparation and administration, presents a number of challenges. "For maximum safety and optimum results, the vaccines first needed to be administered to a substantial amount of peo- ple in our facilities, both resi- dents and employees. But the strategy adopted by the compa- ny, together with a strong cam- paign focusing on safety and effectiveness, have been crucial towards reaching this goal," Ms Xuereb said. The team collected logistical and comprehensive data vis- a-vis supplies, first doses and follow-ups with second doses. "Liaising with each facility management team ran smooth- ly, with members being proac- tive and engaged throughout the entire process," Mr Sceber- ras explained. "The vaccine's reconstitution process required meticulous planning on our part, as well as maximum focus, supervision and precision when extracting doses," Ms Xuereb pointed out. "Adaptability was the team's major strength. There was al- so genuine camaraderie among everyone involved." FOR over two years, The Con- cept Stadium has been work- ing hand in hand with Hospice Malta as its marketing partner. Believing greatly in the cause that Hospice Malta supports, which is the provision of free, high-quality palliative care, The Concept Stadium renewed its commitment by donating €5,000 during the Bl-Imħabba Naslu telethon aired live on all national television stations on Valentine's Day. The donation by The Concept Stadium served to reinforce the company's commitment and affection towards the or- ganisation, that not only pro- vides care to patients but also supports family members who are also going through a tough period. Such grew even more in 2020. When The Concept Sta- dium's beloved Founder and now Guardian Angel Jonathan Chetcuti lost a hard-fought battle with illness 9 months ago, and Hospice were one of the first to reach out to offer their services. Throughout the last months, The Concept Stadium team has worked on several initia- tives to assist Hospice Malta in promoting the telethon before, during and after. Our Commer- cial Creatives provided their expertise in several aspects of promotion starting from the branding of the telethon, so- cial media, digital marketing, and mass-marketing campaign, press conference organisation, web design and more. On the 14th of February, Hos- pice Malta managed to raise the sum of €311,017 in a span of 12 hours. This generous sum of money will be assisting Hos- pice Malta greatly with the ex- penses in relation to the St Mi- chael Hospice, a much-needed first Hospice Complex in Malta for palliative care services.
