THE Malta Hotels and Restaurants As-
sociation is looking forward to working
with the Nationalist Party following the
publication of the party's 10-year tour-
ism plan.
e Nationalist Party is proposing a re-
duction in VAT to 7% for bars and restau-
rants – as in the case of accommodation
– as well as for any operators providing
tourist services, amongst a number of
recommendations on the recovery of the
tourism industry.
A working document launched yester-
day lists more than 100 proposals and
cover a 10-year period: two years of re-
covery and eight years to enjoy pre-COV-
ID-19 levels of profit and success.
MHRA president Tony Zahra told Busi-
nessToday that he was looking forward to
sitting down with the PN for formal dis-
cussions on how to help Malta's tourist
industry grow in the years to come.
