According to figures from the Health Ministry, 19 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the same time window, with 29,677 total recoveries since the start of the outbreak. Malta has seen 30,381 total cases of COVID-19 since registering its first case in March last year. Of these, 288 are active cases today. No new deaths were recorded, leaving total deaths at 416. There have been 874,285 total swab tests carried out over the outbreak, with 1,636 swab tests performed on Monday. In terms of vaccinations, 346,951 dos- es have been administered, of which 109,933 were second doses. Health minister says more meaures will be eased in coming days The government will disclose its plans to ease more COVID-19 measures in the coming days, Health Minister Chris Fearne said yesterday during a press conference at Mount Carmel Hospital. He gave no details as to which meas- ures will be eased. The next raft of measures to be relaxed will come into force on 10 May. "As cases have remained low, our plans will remain in place to reopen cer- tain sectors on Monday… in the com- ing days, we will also be announcing the easing of more measures," Fearne said. On 10 May, restaurants and cafes will be allowed to reopen for the first time since March. They will be allowed to offer dining-in service until 5pm. Re- striction on travel between Malta and Gozo, as well as non-contact sports, will resume. However, Fearne stressed that it was important that masks continued to be worn and warned that mask-wearing will continue to be mandatory for a while longer. He also revealed that 55% of adults have had the first dose of the vaccine and urged persons over 30 to register for the vaccine.
