11 COMMERCIAL 13.5.2021 Interior Architecture Award for commercial and public buildings Community and Nature Childcare Centre - Studjurban is interior design sets the standard for childcare centres, in terms of both the overall concept and the attention to detail. It is exemplary in its child-friendliness and incorporates both aesthetic and functional elements success- fully, such as a bespoke timber partition and rounded edges to the floors. e project exhibits a particularly dynamic and playful use of a wide spectrum of colours which appeal to children's sense of curiosity. Special Commendations Winning Submission 230 works - Archi+ e transformation of the space is simultaneously radical and successful in its execution. e designers were able to incorporate several uses within a rela- tively restricted area by innovatively integrating the furniture, including bespoke folding desks, to make more room as required. e workplaces are particu- larly well designed in terms of their functionality and relationship to the rest of the space, with an attrac- tive screen wall tying together the industrial style and providing opportunities for showcasing small items of interest. 'Souvenirs That Don't Suck' interactive retail store & Té fit-Tazza showroom - Aha Objects e use of colour, inspired by the existing terrazzo flooring on the pavement, is commendable as it serves to anchor the internal space with its surrounding con- text. ough the space is small, it is cleverly trans- formed to incorporate storage and interactive displays in a manner which can not be experienced elsewhere within the arcade. is project goes beyond the tradi- tional souvenir shop, to offer an innovative experience and multi-functional space for shoppers, that should be emulated elsewhere in Valletta. Theatre of Life: MAPFRE MSVLife Offices Interior - MJMDA The design of the spaces is bold and dynamic, with successful treatment of the hierarchy of the spaces which compose the entirety of the office block. The strong red that permeates the design to different degrees reflects the corporate logo of the compa- ny for which the offices were designed, thus making the design contextual. In addition, several cleverly integrated amenities contrive to lend each of the spaces a streamlined aesthetic that is attractive and welcoming.
