maltatoday | SUNDAY • 30 MAY 2021 5 THEATRE Teatru Malta tease on new publication revamp in latest short film release TEATRU Malta's short film "Rinaxximent" is now officially available on demand for your viewing pleasure. Wondered why Teatru Malta decided to centre their protagonist's story around books and the making of them, particularly at Gutten- berg Press? Well that's because the publishing giant has been entrusted with the revamp of not only Teatru Malta's "Pro- gett Klassiċi" series, currently comprising of work by Harold Pinter and Eugene Ionesco but their "new writing" series called "Programm Kitba Ġdida" which will feature a select number of plays written by playwrights who have written for the com- pany throughout the years. These books aim to be released in early 2022 and the covers will be designed by BloomCreative. Teatru Malta are also proud to announce that "Rinaxximent" was one of the 10 short films from the 22 submitted chosen to be showcased in the prestig- ious The Theatre Times' Inter- national Online Theatre Fes- tival. Find out more about the film and how you can watch it below: https://www.europeantheatre. eu/page/activities/renaissance What is Renaissance? Twenty-two European Thea- tre Convention (ETC) theatres, from 18 European countries, including Teatru Malta, have drawn on philosophy, fantasy, and the strain of living under a pandemic to produce an origi- nal series of short drama films that are now available to watch on demand. Renaissance, a project coordi- nated by the European Theatre Convention, sees 22 theatres from 18 European countries each write and produce a five-minute short film that re- sponds to the dramatic prompt of 'Renaissance'. Throughout May and until the 4th of June, the European Theatre Convention will be re- leasing one new film (often with bonus material!) every week day. Check back every day and follow their social media ac- counts to see more cutting edge European theatre on the digital stage! What is the short film 'Rinaxxi- ment' about?
