maltatoday | SUNDAY • 6 JUNE 2021 17 COMMERICAL Vassallo Group supports local artists through ZVART VASSALLO Group Realty, the property arm of the group re- cently unveiled a painting by local artist Luciano Micallef as part of ZVART at the Landmark in Qormi. ZVART, an acronym for Zaren Vassallo Art (initi- ative) encourages companies within the group to invest in pieces of art to adorn property owned by the group or property in which the group is currently operating in and simultaneously supporting local artists. The painting is an abstract piece named 'Transitions' and is the 4th piece of art since its launch in December with dif- ferent companies within the group joining this inititative. Present for the event were the hosts Group Chairman Naz- zareno Vassallo and Vassallo Group Realty CEO Ruben Vas- sallo and director Jackie Cor- dina, artist Luciano Micallef, ZVART chairman Charlo Bon- nici and members Stephen Borg and Joe Saliba as well as various directors, management and staff of Vassallo Group and Vassallo Group Realty. In a message for this occasion Mr Nazzareno Vassallo point- ed out that despite the chal- lenges of Covid-19 the group decided to go ahead with this initiative throughout the year also to support local artists and art which was also adversely af- fected by the pandemic and the downturn in the economy. ZVART was launched in De- cember 2020 at an event dur- ing which a painting by artist Dione Borg of Mr Vassallo's late brother and former di- rector, Ġużeppi Vassallo, was unveiled at Villa Amodeo, the chairman's office as part of Vassallo Group's 75th Anni- versary celebrations. A second work of art by re- nowned ceramist Paul Haber was inaugurated at Learning Works, the group's training arm, as part of the same initia- tive. The third was a sculpture by Wallace Falzon, entitled 'The Heart Giver', was un- veiled at the CareMalta head office in Mosta. "Ecosystems exist not only at a global scale, but also at a local level. This means that everyone can make a difference through our everyday actions and has a role to play in supporting and repairing degraded ecosys- tems.
