4 NEWS 10.6.2021 VASSALLO Group celebrated its 75th Anniversary on last Friday with various activities spread over two days to greet and thank employees for their hard work throughout the years making the group the success story it is today. For a number of years, 4 June has been celebrated with an event for employees, 'e Shine Awards', whereas the name clearly states it allows for hard working employees to shine, acknowledging their dedication to the company. Due to COVID-19 restrictions this event could not be held this year there- fore the aministration decised it was time to improvise and work around it. Group Chairman Nazzareno Vassallo, accompa- nied by group CEO Pio Vassallo, various shareholders, directors and top manage- ment visited employees at their place of work to present them with long service award trophies and retirement bonuses forming part of the Vassallo Group Loy- alty and Retirement schemes. e visits were spread over two days where the group visited all CareMal- ta's elderly homes, the newest home for HILA - Casal Nuovo in Paola, Campus Hub at the University, Vassallo Business Park in Burmarrad, CaterEssence and Learning Works at the Landmark in Qormi and Group Head Office in Mosta. In addition to the long service awards being distributed, 4 June also included an inauguration of the administrative block at Vassallo Business Park, e Cake Box 7th Birthday, Learning Works Anniversary as well as two ZVART (Za- ren Vassallo Art Initiative) events, one at the Chairman's Office and another at the Mosta Head Office. Vassallo Group marks its 75th anniversary IN its first week of operation, Gozo Fast Ferry Ltd carried over 6,000 passengers on its high-speed passenger service be- tween Valletta and MÄ¡arr, Gozo and added extra trips to cope with the high demand over the long weekend. e fast ferry service between the two islands started its first full day of oper- ations last Wednesday and since then more than 3,000 people have down- loaded the company's app to buy tick- ets. A company spokesperson said: "We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback. e number of passengers we carried in just one week shows people were itching for the introduction of such a service linking the two islands." e company said that most people were using the mobile app to get their tickets, or their Tallinja card to tap-and- board without the need to pre-book. "With the easing of restrictions and slow opening of the tourism season we're an-ticipating there will be a much higher demand from those choosing alternative modes of transport," the spokesperson added. In a bid to offer a seamless journey, there are a number of transport options: on foot using the Barrakka Lift from the Valletta centre to Lascaris Wharf; by bus on Route X133 from the Valletta terminus; by ferry from e ree Cit- ies or Sliema; or by bicycle, which are transported on the ferry for free. 6,000 use Gozo Fast Ferry in first week of operations
