maltatoday | SUNDAY • 4 JULY 2021 6 ART 'HER' an exhibition by Clint Scerri Harkins HER is an exhibition by Clint Scerri Harkins who is inviting us to glimpse into these intimate moments - some are studio play- ful instants captured with great artistry, while others are exper- imental camera manipulations and - yes - others are captured unbeknownst to the model. Following his first solo ex- hibition Satya, curated by Si- mon Sultana Harkins, where Scerri Harkins took the viewer through a journey of truth, fea- turing his subjects during their most personal intimate mo- ments of nudity, in HER, the artist is delving a step further into the deep burrow of inti- macy, by portraying his own partner and thus an integral part of his daily life. All imag- es are extremely minimalist in composition and void of any props, yet so captivating and copious with reflections. It is all about HER. The works are a mix of digital and analog pho- tography. The exhibition runs from 18 June to 13 July at il-Kamra ta' Fuq. The exhibition will be held at The Mill between the 3rd and 29th July, 2021. Borg is investigating figura- tive and factual narrative, using vibrant colour and bold brush- es of paint to convey meaning and emotion. There is an element of dis- jointedness and nostalgia in the works he has created in the last year of intensive creation. His first solo exhibition, Mid- Life Crisis, is curated by Elyse Tonna, and describes the se- lected body of work as "an in- trospective exhibition…which shifts focus from extraordinary realities to ordinary experi- ences through an entire explo- ration of the self. The visual instances portray reflective el- ements, which, in the context of a midlife crisis, bring to the forefront the artist's concern with age vis-à-vis artistic pro- duction. The exhibition con- veys an amalgamation of con- sequences following a process of rediscovery, through a series of images unveiling aspects of the mundane." Who is Daniel Borg? Daniel Borg (b. 1986), based in Berlin, is an emerging and self-taught artist that since 2020 has further developed his studio based practice. He has exhibited his work as part of the INDOORS collective exhi- bition at Desko (2020). He also has an upcoming collective ex- hibition in Berlin (2021). Borg is a musician, artist and CAD designer from Malta. He is known for his musi- cal work with Skimmed, The Velts, Fastidju and Superlove. He graduated in Building and Construction Design at Mcast and worked at AP architectural studio for a number of years in Malta and recently at Kompan in Berlin.
