maltatoday | SUNDAY • 11 JULY 2021 7 ART 111 Art and the Creative Sci- ence and Art Institute (CSAI) are pleased to present Dr. Ga- briele Deidda's eclectic collec- tion of Limited-Edition Art prints. Dr. Gabriele Deidda (born 1985) is an Italian Re- searcher in Neuroscience, cur- rently based at the University of Malta. Dr. Deidda's artistic work, won the 2014 EU prize in the Art of Neuroscience competi- tion. Using various techniques such as immuno- histo-chem- istry to contrast and label brain structures, and laser confocal microscopy to mi- crophotograph parts of the brain, the results are incredi- bly detailed beautiful imagery, that is novel, compelling and contemporary. The intention of his artworks is to "communicate through neuroscientific images the beauty of the brain by plant- ing into the observer's mind the seed of the neuroscientif- ic knowledge through a met- aphoric artwork mirroring brain functions". His goal is to represent the beauty of the brain in its ele- mentary form. Dr Deidda will be giving a talk about his artistic inten- tions and scientific processes on the opening night, the 16th July at 7:30pm at 111 Art Gal- lery at Garden Street, Gzira. This project is part support- ed by the Malta Arts council through the CSAI Foundation. This Exhibition is ideal for Art Lovers and Science aficio- nados alike looking for some- thing intelligent and different to anything seen so far on this island. The exhibition will open its doors to the public on the 16th July at 7pm, with social distancing measures in place. It will be open on weekdays for visitors from Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm until the 30th Ju- ly. Neuro Art: The Beauty of the Brain exhibition Brain Waves 2009 • Our brain is like the sea: despite our knowledge about its mysteries has increased over the last decades, its depth still makes this organ (that generates our mind) fascinating, and brings us to investigate it with enthusiasm and curiosity. The scientist, as an adventurer sailor, undertakes his/her journey towards unknown new territories. This image is a metaphor of the BrainWaves and of their structural functionality.
