15.7.2021 7 NEWS MEDIRECT Bank Malta is helping clients consolidate their portfolio of investments into one convenient and efficient place, to save them time and money. rough a new promotion, MeDirect Bank is now also rewarding clients transferring their assets onto the Bank's online platform. "A diversified investment portfolio is important. Having investments in different asset classes, sectors and in- dustries helps manage risk in a better way. ere are times when one may consider other options but, more often than not, consolidation can save time and money and at MeDirect Bank we are dedicated to find the best solutions to our clients," said Adrian Vella, Head – Investment Network. MeDirect Bank is offering clients the opportunity to consolidate their fi- nances rather than having their assets spread with different providers. e consolidation of finances gives investors a better overview of their complete financial portfolio, rather than having to go through apps or web- sites of various financial services pro- viders to stay abreast of one's financial matters. In addition, such a scattered ap- proach makes it all the more difficult to understand one's overall financial per- formance and target-oriented goals. Adrian Vella added: "Consolidation would also mean having one universal financial advisor. Having assets spread over a number of institutions will usu- ally mean dealing with different finan- cial advisors and different communica- tion channels, which can easily become time-consuming and cumbersome. Be- sides, this will also allow a single finan- cial advisor to better understand and efficiently guide the client's portfolio of investments." Consolidating finances with MeDi- rect Bank also allows investors to trade anywhere, anytime using the conven- ient online platform. Having a better overview and understanding of invest- ments allows for better assessment of finances. When consolidating finances with MeDirect Bank, the bank's low bank- ing and investment fees enable clients to save money when trading and ex- ecuting transactions, allowing them to retain a higher share of the returns made of their investments. MeDirect is not short of diversifica- tion and offers a selection of invest- ment products, including funds, ETFs, shares, bonds, and model portfolios, which are baskets of investment funds aimed at diversifying investment risk and achieving better returns. Investors can start investing for as low as Eur100. Moreover, MeDirect is offering cli- ents who choose to consolidate their portfolios a bonus of Eur300 as well as a reimbursement for any third-party transfer-out fees of up to 0.5% of the total value of the securities moved. Customers interested in taking ad- vantage of this promotion can open an account with MeDirect and submit a transfer request together with a state- ment of holdings showing their invest- ment portfolio. MeDirect will then handle the rest and contact the existing investment custodian to arrange the transfer. "Exercise intolerance is a major symp- tom in heart failure, and physical inac- tivity contributes significantly to dis- ease progression in affected patients", said Dr. Philipp Wild, Head of Preven- tive Cardiology und Medical Preven- tion and Head of Clinical Epidemiol- ogy and Systems Medicine, Center for rombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) at the University Medical Center Mainz. "We decided to take action and de- velop a mobile app that individually motivates patients to adopt an active lifestyle by providing recommendations in a simple, flexible, and interactive ap- proach. e study will contribute to a better understanding of how a person- alized app-based intervention affects quality of life, cardiovascular status, ex- ercise capacity and molecular pathways relevant for the development and pro- gression of the heart failure syndrome." e group in Mainz combines its com- prehensive expertise in cardiovascular and systems medicine research with the application of wearables and apps. e app was developed together with IBM and a team of further experts from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Dr. Matthias Michal, Professor at the Department of Psychosomatic Med- icine and Psychotherapy, University Medical Center Mainz and Dr. Perikles Simon, Professor at Institute for Sports Science, Johannes Gutenberg Universi- ty Mainz). e technology partners IBM, Uma- na Medical and McRoberts support this innovative project by providing cut- ting-edge electronic devices and appli- cations for tracking study participants' health and activity status. e UMA- NA T1 Heart Monitor will be used for real-time remote monitoring of vital signs such as heart rhythm and rhythm abnormalities, blood pressure, and res- piratory rate. e T1 system is an Artificial Intelli- gence (AI) assisted telemonitoring sys- tem making use of a proprietary tattoo sensor, named "Smarter Skin". e system allows medical profession- als to effectively monitor patients' vital signs without interfering with their day- to-day quality of life. e system was widely used across a number of countries during the pan- demic to monitor patients diagnosed with Covid-19 from the comfort of their own homes during their observation period.
