maltatoday | SUNDAY • 18 JULY 2021 4 MUSIC APS Bank is pleased to announce the full programme of the 2021 APS Sum- mer Festival, packed with live acts and performances every evening between 21st July and 1st August 2021. Well-known local and internationally signed artist and performances include Etnika, Ira Losco with an intimate un- plugged set featuring young female tal- ents Destiny, Michela and Bloodline and Alexandra Alden & Band who will be previewing her forthcoming album 'Leads to Love'. Moveo Dance Company return to the stage with their contemporary dance show Carmen, and the University of Malta's School of Performing Arts will be showcasing their best student and graduate talent with a specifically-de- vised performance. Brikkuni take the stage mid-week, with an exclusive festival first warm-up set by Ultralow Collective preceding their energetic 1-hour set, while local bands Djun and Brodu will also come together for a night of ear-friendly tunes and poetic lyrics. Andrew Alamango is bringing to the stage his latest work Lost Voices ex- ploring and reviving 1930s Maltese music. Various theatre pieces will be presented, including an exclusive, new theatre performance around the life of Prof. Oliver Friggieri as a tribute to his academic life on Campus, followed by Diccon Cooper's Jazz Manouche sounds by Swing Nuages. A Night of World Music will bring together the Galea String Quartet by London based multi-genre violinist Nadine Galea and Pasión Tango – a collective of 6 international artists per- form-ing live Argentinean tango. The Festival, which closes with The Comedy Knights Laugh Off, will also feature daily multi-disciplinary video interludes by Opening Doors Malta. The APS Summer Festival is be- ing held at University of Malta Main Quadrangle and, like 2020, will strictly follow the COVID-19 health and safety directives issued by the Department of Public Health. Only persons in possession of a valid vaccination certificate will be admit- ted. Contact tracing and temperature check points are set at the entrance and sanitisation stations are available at multiple points. Attendees must wear masks at all times and the seating capacity of 150 is socially-distanced. Access to the Festival, on campus is from the Old Main Entrance (South Gate) and ample free parking is avail- able. It is recommended that attendees arrive well ahead of the show start time due to the various check points and da- ta validation that needs to take place at the door.
