maltatoday | SUNDAY • 5 SEPTEMBER 2021 4 CULTURE Celebrating Maltese tradition in one special event The Malta Fireworks Special will be taking place over four days in four stunning locations MALTA and Gozo's skies will be lit up this coming September in what promises to be an ode to one of Malta's instantly-rec- ognisable traditions – the art of fireworks. THE Malta Fireworks Special will be taking place over four days, in four stunning locations. Kicking off on the 4th Septem- ber in Gozo, the Fireworks Spe- cial continues on the 9th Sep- tember in Mqabba, on the 11th in Mellieha, and finishing off with a grand finale on the 20th September, in Valletta's Grand Harbour. Those watching will be treated to traditional sets of fireworks, as well as complex 5-7 minute firework shows, all at the hands of 29 Firework Fac- tories and 45 Firework Associ- ations from across Malta and Gozo. "The Malta Fireworks Special event is of sterling news for the entertainment industry. As we continue heading on the path towards normality, it is crucial that the Maltese pub- lic remains responsible with full respect of the regulations outlined by the Superintend- ence of Public Health. I wish all the best of luck to the or- ganizers and a special thanks to the Malta Tourism Authority who played a paramount part in making this event a reality," outlined Minister for Tour- ism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo. "We are more than delight- ed to be organising the Malta Fireworks Special, in a year where, once again, we had to sacrifice our biggest summer traditions, which are the Feasts and the Fireworks. As always, everyone's health and safety is of paramount importance, and for this reason, we are here- by encouraging people to not gather at the sites of the shows, but to view the fireworks from different vantage points, whilst always adhering to the COV- ID-19 regulations," Johann Buttigieg, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority added. Music takes centre-stage in a double concert announcement IT has been a long time com- ing, and finally, the Malta Tourism Authority is proud to announce that, on the 24th September 2021, the Grana- ries in Floriana are set, to once again welcome the world-fa- mous BBC Concert Orchestra for what promises to be an ex- travaganza of sound as they tell the story of one of the world's greatest rock bands.
