2 NEWS 9.9.2021 TURKISH construction firm Polifort, which started operating in Malta earlier this year, has acquired the latest vehicle tracking and fleet management system from HandsOn Systems. e system incorporates real time tracking with the ability to generate reports on individual vehicles or the entire fleet, apart from generating spe- cific alerts in line with Polifort's require- ments. HandsOn Systems are guaranteeing 24x7 support. Earlier this summer Polifort Adminis- trator Erdinç Guven and Assistant Ad- ministrator Matthew Mizzi were given training on the platform to enable them to generate the reports and have access to all the information they would need on a day-to-day basis. e system includes Driver ID, ena- bling each driver to be identified with the respective vehicle or vehicles as- signed, the monitoring of each vehicle's fuel consumption and smarter route planning and dispatch. "Our clients, Polifort, are extremely happy with the system they have ac- quired," HandsOn Systems salesperson Matthew Abela said. "We are in the process of installing the trackers on 12 vehicles initially, with 10 already up and running. We will then take it from there." According to HandsOn Systems CEO Geoffrey Farrugia, "e industrial ap- plication of vehicle tracking is extend- ing beyond regular fleets to more spe- cialised sectors and we see construction as a growth opportunity for HandsOn." Among the benefits to construction companies operating their own fleets of vehicles is the ability to constantly mon- itor the fleet at any given time, with key data on each vehicle. Safety is enhanced and compliance is automated. Productivity can be im- proved while ensuring employee satis- faction, maximising work-life balance. e sensors installed on the construc- tion vehicle fleet are more rugged than those in a regular car and can withstand rough working conditions. It was created after listening to the needs of a number of Italian entrepreneurs who wanted to expand their business abroad through business communications in English. is meeting is the 8th one in this series of international meetings organised by Malta BNI since July 2020. e following day, on Wednesday 15 September at 12noon, the subject of Neurodiversity at the workplace will be tackled during the 11th session of the BNI Business Briefing delivered by busi- ness consultant Joseph K. Muscat. Born in Toronto, Canada, at a very young age Joseph was diagnosed with learning difficulties, now called Neurodiversity. is condition has always existed at the workplace but has come to the forefront during Covid-19 as employers, manag- ers and team members discovered both the challenges they face and their pre- ferred working conditions. Neurodiversity refers to the learning difficulties that people are born with, such as dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, Asperger's syndrome or autism, to name a few. Neurodiverse employees and en- trepreneurs face challenges on the job not just because of these diversities, but as well because business focuses too much on the challenges these per- sons face rather than on their strengths. Most businesses have no policy or strat- egies to recruit such persons or how to on-board them as they struggle to un- derstand how to utilise a neurodiverse person's strength as this would respect the individual and, in turn, improve productivity and profit. Muscat will be explaining how such a positive attitude will create and develop a culture of awareness, skill develop- ment for businesses, and an environ- ment that is both inclusive and diverse. Despite facing these challenges dur- ing his school years, he graduated and proceeded on to University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree. After graduating, he started his own business of professional photography in the portrait and commercial indus- try. In 2014, his family moved their life and business to Malta. During that time, Joseph and his wife transformed their business model, which gave Jo- seph the chance to explore many other opportunities. roughout the years, Joseph has had to face the challenges in managing his neurodiversity within his business, with clients, and employers. It is because of these experiences and the lack of external support that he then de- cided to establish his consultancy busi- ness. His aim is to bring both awareness and skills development in the business world.
