A man is being questioned by the police over his involvement in the incident. In- vestigations are ongoing. The news shocked and brought the con- demnation of many, including Prime MIn- ister Robert Abela and Opposition leader Bernard Grech. "Not be tolerated under any circum- stance" - Robert Abela Robert Abela condemned the incident, insisting this attitude will "not be tolerated under any circumstance". The Prime Minister said police investiga- tions into the incident are underway and insisted that any resident of Malta, irre- spective who they are, enjoy the protection of the institutions. He was addressing a press conference with the president of the S&D Iratxe Gar- cia Perez at the Mediterranean Confer- ence Centre. MEPs from the socialists and democrats bloc are meeting in Malta. "I am shocked" - Bernard Grech PN and Opposition leader Bernard Grech expressed his shock in reaction to the news that a construction worker that was found on the side of the road, after a fall form a construction site. "Like the thousands who saw the pho- tos of a person thrown to the side of the street, after an incident which report- edly took place at his place of employ- ment, I am shocked. Every person has a value that supersedes the price of the work they do," said Grech. He added that money should not come at the cost of humanity and expressed his solidarity with the person and the "many others" that are victim to pre- carious employment, while risking their lives. "No worker should be treated this way" - Byron Camilleri Home Affairs Minister Byron Camill- eri condemned the act, and said that no worker should be treated in this way. He wished a speedy recovery to the victim and said that he expects anyone responsible to suffer the consequences. "Unacceptable" - MEA The Malta Employers'Association condemned without reservation the incident and said that such abusive ac- tions are unacceptable in a civilised so- ciety. It appealed to the police to conduct the necessary investigations to establish what happened and to bring anyone re- sponsible to justice.
