maltatoday | SUNDAY • 14 NOVEMBER 2021 16 COMMERCIAL Melita Business sets out vision for IoT powered Industry 4.0 Frank Salt Real Estate's Gozo team wins two top awards at Gozo Business Awards 2021 AT the 'Industry 4.0 – Engineering a Smarter In- dustry' conference organised by the Chamber of Engineers, Melita's Director of Business Innovation Kenneth Spiteri and the company's Head of Mar- keting, Mireille Muscat, highlighted how Melita's IoT networks are able to power new applications and processes that will drive efficiency and produc- tivity through innovative IoT solutions. Key to the power of IoT is the ability to collect and transfer data between devices and machines, ena- bling automatic monitoring and – if needed - trig- gering of specific actions. Spiteri presented various IoT case studies to the engineers present at the conference including waste management and de- tails of an ongoing trial in the Netherlands where commercial coffee machines have been fitted with IoT devices to ensure that baristas always have a well-maintained machine and on-time supply of coffee suited to the machine, leading to the perfect espresso. Melita Business has developed the melita.io plat- form which gives clients across Europe the ability to track and manage their IoT SIM and Lora sensors from a desktop. In Malta, melita.io clients have the choice of two nationwide IoT connectivity options, both with low power requirements: Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), which allows for connectivity in re- mote areas - even underground - and LoRaWan, a long range, wide area network. This on top of the 3G, 4G and 5G networks. Melita's nationwide 5G network provides the in- frastructure for a leap forward in automation and technical innovation by dramatically reducing la- tency and providing near-instantaneous data trans- fer for IoT applications such as precision manu- facturing. 5G also allows companies to create their own private high-speed networks to enhance the security of their operations. "As the fourth industrial revolution gathers pace, Melita.io has the necessary infrastructure and an ecosystem of partners in place to help device man- ufacturers and application developers make Malta a leading centre of excellence for IoT. As a company, we are well placed to export our knowledge and to continue to grow our melita.io brand throughout Europe and beyond," Spiteri said. Frank Salt Real Estate's Gozo branches have been conferred the award of "Gozo's Best Real Estate and Property Company of the year", whilst Gozo Director Marie Grech was awarded "Gozo's Best Female Entre- preneur of the Year", during a gala night and award-giving ceremony held at Ta' Frenc in Gozo on Wednesday, 3 No- vember 2021. The Gozo Busi- ness Awards 2021 were or- ganised by Dynamic Events in collaboration with the Malta Business Review and the Mal- ta Independent. The awards were received by Gozo Director Marie Grech, together with her team of consultants and admin staff who were also present on the night. Over 300 guests and participants attended this an- nual event. The Gozo Business Awards aim to distinguish the high- est levels of achievement in a range of business-relat- ed fields across the island of Gozo. Award categories en- compass start-up businesses, artisan and culinary business, real estate, restaurants, hos- pitality, retail, company inno- vation and trade. In the case of real estate, Frank Salt Real Estate's Gozo award application was judged by a panel of judges. Assess- ment was based on business resilience; the company's standing locally and interna- tionally (at branch level), HR strategies, innovation, qual- ifications and experience of their staff, service standards, marketing activity, CSR and other related criteria. With an exponential growth in the property market on Gozo and a surge in demand for properties by locals and foreigners alike, Frank Salt Real Estate expanded its Gozo operations by recent- ly opening its second branch on the island and as a result, also increasing its staff com- pliment. "I, together with my team, are thrilled to have been awarded the Best Real Estate and Property Award" says Marie Grech. "We are a well-trained and experienced group of individuals who share all the support needed to operate in our business. The company's commitment to each and every individual within the team is to provide all the necessary tools for a successful career and to make sure nobody is left behind", Marie continues. The company's trademark to offer the best and honest service to its clients, togeth- er with a sterling reputation maintained for over 32 years in Gozo, puts Frank Salt Real Estate at the forefront of the property industry in Gozo.
