2 21 NOVEMBER 2021 I n the past few weeks our offices have been buzzing with more ac- tivity than usual, as preparations for our trade delegation to the EX- PO 2020, Dubai moved into a high- er gear. By now, we are more than glad to have put in the extra effort, as feedback from participants has been resoundingly positive. Many meetings were held, valuable con- tacts were built, and friendships were strengthened, and most of all knowledge was gained and a once- in-a-lifetime experience was en- joyed by all participants. With more than sixty, the group of entrepreneurs on the delegation in- cluded property developers, estate agents and financial consultants, working in real estate investments. Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Planning, Aaron Far- rugia and Parliamentary Secre- tary for Construction, Chris Agius also joined the group organised by Property Malta Foundation. Arriving at the huge grounds of the EXPO 2020, the Malta Pavil- ion was the first to visit. Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia, confirmed this was the biggest del- egation of Maltese entrepreneurs that visited the pavilion so far, and it fills us with pride to have made this happen. More information and photos from the visit are found on pages 6 and 7. is edition of the Property Malta Supplement, includes an exclusive interview with Sandro Chetcuti, taken soon after he announced he is stepping down as president of the Malta Developers Association. In this candid exchange, Mr Chetcuti explains how he sees the MDA be- ing firmly established on a national level, as a point of reference for the local construction industry. He also speaks of the somewhat excessive, and sometimes unfounded criti- cism he has received in this posi- tion, and the future of the Associa- tion without him at its helm. On the use of insulation in design, one may find a very informative ar- ticle, from the National Energy and Climate Plan, and a piece on Green Cities from Photovoltaic – Euro- pean Technology and Innovation Plat¬form. Two articles are topical not only because this edition is be- ing published close to the conclu- sion of COP26 – the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, recently held in Glasgow, but also because the general dis- course in our industry is clearly shifted very firmly towards the promotion of sustainability in all its aspects. is was also highly ac- centuated at Expo 2020 which ded- icated a whole district, of the three, entirely for sustainability, and in development projects displayed at Cityscape 2021. We cannot but be more confident that science, tech- nology and everyone's goodwill, will help us address climate change with more determined and success- ful approaches than ever before. Sustainable Development – not just an inspiration! GERTRUDE BORG MARKS SENIOR MANAGER, PROPERTY MALTA EDITOR'S NOTE
