maltatoday | SUNDAY • 28 NOVEMBER 2021 6 ART The Gabriel Caruana Foundation's last exhibition of 2021 is 'SPRING v2.2' THE Gabriel Caruana Founda- tion last exhibition of 2021 is SPRING v2.2 and the exhibi- tion entitled 'How do you feel?' curated by Elyse Tonna will be a collective exhibition showing works by Noah Fabri, Kamy Aq- uilina and Katel Delia which will be exploring different aspects of the growth economy. Noah Fabri (b. 1999) is a re- cent graduate of the Universi- ty of Malta having read a BA in Anthropology. Their back- ground varies across artistic disciplines with a particular focus on literature and music. Fabri's interests lie in social- ly-engaged artistic practice, theatre and film and they have created collaborative works such as the short film 'In-Nani F'Art il-Ġganti', the illustrated short story 'Dar Imħawra', and the performance 'Huma Min Huma?' They are particularly inter- ested in investigating issues re- lated to walking, space, gender and the effects of politics on everyday life. Kamy Aquilina (b.1989) is a Fine Artist and art educator based in Malta, grad- uated with a B.A. Hons Degree in Fine Arts. Kamy participat- ed in different collaborative art projects, art festivals, and art exhibitions locally and abroad. 'Xlokk Kaħlani' was Kamy's first solo exhibition at the Mal- ta Society of Arts. Her artworks are based on different personal journeys using mixed media, the visual narrative, multi-sensory art, space, and colour while often using photography as a starting point. Katel Delia (b. 1975) born in France, is deeply attached to her Maltese origins and has been living and working be- tween Malta and Paris since 2016. In 1999, she complet- ed her DNSEP degree at the Beaux-Arts de Rennes. Since 2000 she has worked as an ar- tistic director and then func- tional project manager. Her artistic practice focuses on the creation of installations which combine photography, sculpture and writing. She is interested in exploring traces of the past which in turn re- flect into the present. Delia is also keen to investigate per- ception of spaces. In 2021 she was awarded the 10th CAP Prize, Contemporary African Photography Prize, for a pho- tography series. Her work was also featured in variousphoto festivals in France and in Mal- ta. She had two solo exhibi- tions at Spazju Kreattiv 'Malta – Tunis – Marseille' in 2021 and 'Familja migrAzzjoni. I was born there, but I live here…' in 2017. Delia also participated in collective exhibitions includ- ing The Mdina Biennale, Mal- ta Society of Arts, Christine X Gallery, Gabriel Caruana Foundation and at Il-Kamra ta' Fuq. 'How do you feel?' seeks to challenge and engage in the international debate of neo-lib- eral policies and urbanization, drawing on local examples of economic, environmental and social concern. Noah Fabri, Katel Delia and Kamy Aqui- lina challenge varied aspects associated with the intensified transformative urbanisation processes currently ongoing in Malta. SPRING v2.2 launches Friday 19th November at 5pm and will run until Friday 10th Decem- ber, at The Mill - Art, Culture and Crafts Centre, Birkirka- ra. We have one open day on Saturday 20th November from 4pm till 8pm. The Mill is also open Wednesdays, Thursdays between 5pm and 7.30pm and Fridays between 5pm and 8pm. The GCF volunteers will ensure implementation of health and safety protocols (registration at the door for contact tracing purposes, mask on, sanitizer, temperature taken at the door and 2m distance, if maximum capacity is reached, visitors will be kindly asked to wait outside). 'Il-Filliera tal-Ikkundannati' is a series of manipulated digital photos by Katelia Delia documenting and highlighting the forgotten singularity, sculptural and evocative qualities of the trees along Mdina Road 'Inbighu l-Imqaret',2021, Noah Fabri has baked, walked and talked from Gzira to Birkirkara, using the 'maqrut' as a starting point to engage passersby in a critical discussion about the process of wealth accumulation, value and capitalism
