maltatoday | SUNDAY • 12 DECEMBER 2021 5 NEW YEAR'S EVE National New Year's eve celebrations in St George's Square Valletta Grand Harbour midnight fireworks spectacular THE Christmas in the City pro- gramme wraps up with a grand finale on New Year's Eve with a fireworks spectacular and an entertainment line-up featur- ing the popular British singer John Newman performing in St George's Square, Valletta. This was announced today during a press conference by Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef, CEO Catherine Tabone and MTA Chairman Gavin Gulia. Following last year's success, the Valletta Cultural Agency will continue to build on the show with a 10-minute fire- work spectacular from the Grand Harbour which will greet in the New Year. This will become an annual appoint- ment for New Year's Eve and may be enjoyed from all areas of the Grand Harbour. As with previous years, the spectacle will be broadcasted live on all local television sta- tions as from 10.30 pm. While entrance is free of charge, tickets on a first come first serve basis are to be col- lected from the Valletta Cultur- al Agency premises in Republic Street, Valletta, as from Thurs- day 9th December after 10am. A maximum of four tickets per person may be collected. Due to the current Health Author- ity regulations to combat the spread of Covid 19, tickets are limited. The artists line-up will include John Newman, who is known for several popular songs in- cluding "Feel the Love", "Not Giving In", "Love Me Again", "Fire in Me" and "Feelings". In addition to Newman, De- brii and The Palace String Or- chestra featuring Aidan, Gaia, Jasmine, Klinsmann, Megan and Ozzylino are also going to perform on New Year's Eve. This event will be presented by Abel, JD and Martina. The Valletta Cultural Agency is currently in discussions with the Malta Tourism Authori- ty and with Health Deposito- ry Unit to ensure that all the necessary protocols will be fol- lowed. The Valletta National New Year's Eve 2021 Celebrations are organised by G7 Events and supported by a Partnership Agreement for Large-Scale Events and Initiatives provided by the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for Nation- al Heritage, the Arts and Local Government.
