maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 DECEMBER 2021 4 CULTURE THE Teatru tal-Opra Aurora is proud to present the first ever end-of-year Gala evening at the opera house. Amidst the hard- ships that 2021 brought over all of us, we are all deserving of a glamorous night out that only Gozo's Aurora can offer. Hence, The Aurora Gala, a symphonic gala by the Mal- ta Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Colin Attard, fol- lowed by an 8-course gala din- ner in what is being dubbed as the ultimate event of the sea- son. It's not quite the Vienna New Year's Concert. Neither is it Venice's Concerto di Capo- danno at La Fenice. It simply is The Aurora Gala, taking its name from the famed Aurora Opera House, where opera in Gozo has strived and thrived. First and foremost, a symphon- ic concert featuring an eclectic mix of Maltese and continental symphonic music. Household names on their own right and might, MPO and Colin Attard always bring up dazzle and flair into any of their events, not least this special occasion on the eve of New Year's Eve. The concert will be further complemented by a splendidly lavish dinner. While the Blue Lion may be known for serv- ing as a Gastro Bar during the year, it will up its game for the night, bringing to good use, the services and expertise of Chef Paul Bugeja and his experience at the Michelin-rated North- cote Obsession eatery in Lan- cashire. What promises to be a once-in-a-year treat will fea- ture an 8-course fine dine style dinner inclusive of a selection of fine wines. The Aurora Gala will feast on the lavish neo-baroque decor of the opera house, signed by Emvin Cremona; it will bank on the eloquence of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the seasoned Colin Attard; it will capitalise on the whole- hearted hospitality for which Gozo is known; and it will shim- mer at the sight of so many es- teemed patrons, dressed up to the nines, that will line up the red carpets and dot the theatre stalls in proper gala dress code. With different price brackets and combo options, the end- of-year Gala at the Aurora is an innovative event that aims to attract high-quality seasonal tourist to the island who adds quality time, accommodation and ancillary services to his Gozo visit over the turn-of- the-year period. Concert and dinner tickets, with optional champagne and waiter service in the theatre boxes may be acquired from www.teatruaurora.com or tick- et helpline: 79045779. The Aurora Gala is being pro- duced by the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora, in collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Or- chestra with the support of the Ministry for Gozo.
